Yetzirah (Creation) at Ramah – Announcing our Theme for Yahadut!

The blessing “oseh ma’aseh breisheit” (fulfilling the act of creation) teaches us to view the world through a lens of awe and wonder. How should we treat this awe-inspiring world that G-d has left in our care? What impact will we make to add to this world that G-d has created for us? This summer at the Ramah Day Camp of Greater Washington, DC we will be exploring the theme of Yetzirah (Creation). We will dive into the text of the Creation story from the Torah and also utilize texts from Pirkei Avot and Talmud to further our understanding. We will use songs, both Jewish and secular stories, games, art, and our natural environment to further investigate Yetzirah (Creation).

Our goal this summer is to deepen our hanichim‘s understanding of how they can make a difference in the world. The hanichim will be asked to explore what it means to be created betzelem elokim (in G-d’s image) and discover how they can affect positive change and leave their mark on the world.
