RDC Sha’ar Week 7

It is hard to believe that we have reached the final week of camp! We have learned so much together this summer, and we are incredibly grateful to all of our parents and guardians for your support of the Sha’ar program.

This week, we gave the chanichim (חֲנִיכִים) (campers) an opportunity to share their regashot (רְגָשׁוֹת) (feelings) about camp coming to an end. When asked, “Eich at/ata margish/margisha? (אֵיךְ אַתְּ/אַתָּה מַרְגִּישָׁה/מַרְגִּישׁ?)” (“How are you feeling?”), some shared that they felt atzuv (עָצוּב) (sad) because they would miss their friends and counselors. Others said they were sameach (שָׂמֵחַ) (happy) because they were looking forward to the next exciting event in their lives, such as a family vacation or the start of school.

We also completed our papier-mâché miflatzot (מִפְלָצוֹת) (monsters) by painting them with different tzeva’im (צְבָעִים) (colors) and adding a partzuf (פַּרְצוּף) (face) complete with einayim (עֵינַיִם) (eyes), se’ar (שֵׂעָר) (hair), af (אַף) (nose), and peh (פֶּה) (mouth), just like the monster in the Hebrew book Lech Mipoh Mifletzet Yerukah! (לֵךְ מִפֹּה מִפְלֶצֶת יְרוּקָּה!) (“Go Away, Green Monster!”), which we enjoyed reading together.

To celebrate the end of an amazing summer, we gathered for a closing circle where everyone shared their favorite camp memories. We also painted the background for our Sha’ar group photo, creating a special keepsake to remember our time together.
