Sha’ar Week 6 Recap

This week in Sha’ar, the campers learned about feelings (regashotרגשות). We looked at a variety of pictures and identified the emotions being expressed, including sameach (שמח – happy), atzuv (עצוב – sad), ayef (עייף – tired), and mefached (מפחד – scared). We then took turns sharing how we were feeling by saying, “Ani margish/margishah” (אני מרגיש / אני מרגישה) ______ (“I feel ______”).

We also read the Hebrew book “Lech MiPo, Miflezet Yerukah!” (לך מפה, מפלצת ירוקה!) (“Go Away, Big Green Monster!”) and talked about the different emotions a monster might experience. The chanichim loved using papier-mâché to create their own colorful monsters.

In celebration of Tu B’Av (ט״ו באב) on Wednesday, we learned the song “Ani Ohev Shokolad” (אני אוהב שוקולד) (“I Love Chocolate”), which celebrates the many things we love in life, including chocolate, the seasons, our families, and our teachers. The campers shared, in Hebrew, the things they love and then created cards in Hebrew for the special people in their lives, including their mothers, fathers, grandparents, and friends. Of course, we also enjoyed some delicious chocolate, just like the title of the song!

We had a fantastic week in Sha’ar and are looking forward to another exciting week of learning, creating, and speaking Hebrew together.

Shabbat Shalom!
