Spotlight on Mada (STEM)

A group of children stand outdoors in front of a wooden wall with backpacks hanging. They are smiling and eating from clear cups, some with spoons in their mouths. Trees and greenery are visible in the background.

Mada (STEM) is always a blast (off)! From design challenges to explosions, there is always something new being investigated! Our hanichim love working with friends and challenging themselves to see what they can create. Everyone is learning new things as we explore the STEM world. This session our hanichim learn the science behind making a tasty summer time favorite — glida (ice cream)! Everyone is leaving MADA with huge smiles (and some leftovers) on their faces.

Three children with face masks under their chins and ice cream on their mouths smile at the camera, holding plastic cups. Backpacks hang on hooks in the background. It appears to be a summer camp setting.

Ramah Day Camp is also excited to announce our new summer partnership with the Center for STEM in Jewish Education at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School! The CSJE will be providing a variety of STEM activities during week 4 this summer for Ramah campers, who will use their problem solving skills for both marine engineering and aeronautical engineering challenges, all led by the CSJE faculty, STEM Center Fellows, and CESJDS STEM students.
