Yom Sport at Ramah Day Camp DC

At Ramah Day Camp DC, Yom Sport brought an incredible burst of energy and ruach (spirit) to camp, kicking off with a lively Asifat Boker (morning meeting) when the Nitzanim chanichim (campers) introduced Yom Sport to Machane Ramah (Camp Ramah)!

As team captains, the Nitzanim campers stepped into meaningful leadership roles— leading shirim (songs) and cheers, designing team shirts, and guiding their peers. It was truly inspiring to see our oldest edah (unit) take full ownership of the day, showing confidence, responsibility, and pride in every moment. Watching them develop as leaders while supporting and uplifting the younger chanichim was a highlight of the summer. The day was beautifully coordinated by staff members Erin Wilcher, Ramah Day Camp DC Program Director, with support from Lily Pollak, Rosh Nitzanim.

As the day unfolded, chanichim brought their full energy, teamwork, and creativity to one of the most anticipated events of the session. Five vibrant teams—Yarok (Green), Katom (Orange), Adom (Red), Kahol (Blue), and Tzahov (Yellow)—were made up of mixed-age groups, giving campers the opportunity to connect and collaborate across edot (units).

From classic games like kickball and wiffle ball to exciting STEM challenges that sparked critical thinking, the day offered something for everyone. With original cheers, handmade team banners, and non-stop ruach (spirit), Yom Sport became a joyful celebration of sportsmanship, creativity, and the deep sense of community that defines Ramah.
