Meet our 2023 Camper Care Team!
We are very excited to introduce the Ramah Day Camp camper care team for Kayitz 2023:
Yoetzet Danielle Galitzer: I am a middle school special education teacher in Washington, DC. During the summer, I enjoy being outside running, kayaking, and exploring new museums in the DC area! When the weather isn’t as great, I enjoy reading and knitting. I am looking forward to joining the Ramah DC staff this year!
Yoetzet Danielle Gordon Yeger: This will be my fourth kayitz (summer) at Ramah Day Camp! In prior summers I have worked on Yahadut staff, as Rosh Edah and most recently as Rosh Mada (STEM). I am excited about being a yoetzet this year. During the school year I am a middle school math teacher. My favorite thing about camp is making incredible memories all summer long. Can’t wait to see you this summer!
Yoetz Rabbi Derek Rosenbaum: Rabbi Derek has been a Jewish text teacher at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD for 8 years. His passion for Jewish learning was sparked by his first trip to Israel with HSI in his junior year of high school. Since then Rabbi Derek has worked for USY, Ramah, Young Judaea, Hillel, and JFCS. While a student in rabbinical school, he served as Education Director and Rabbinic Intern at Kehilat HaNahar in New Hope, PA. Rabbi Derek is a graduate of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and the Joint Program at List College and Columbia University. He is a lover of Philly sports, live music, and introducing classic movies from the 80s and 90s to his kids/former campers, Micah and Sadie.
Yoetz Marc Silberstein: I have spent 25 years at Jewish summer camps, along with 17 years as a full time Jewish education professional. I’m looking forward to returning to RDC and applying the skills I’ve accrued in guiding young counselors in order to give campers the best experience possible. My goal is to improve my own work from the previous summer and find ways to support the broader camp community.
Yoetzet Erin Willcher: I’m so excited for my third summer on staff! I’m Erin Willcher and I have over 20 years of experience in marketing, communications and Jewish youth engagement. When I’m not at camp, I’m an independent marketing consultant and B’nai Israel Congregation Youth Advisor. I have three children, two at Ramah and one future Ramanik.
Our team of yoetzim will work in conjunction with Tikvah Director Mira Tash and Assistant Director Sharon Rosenberg Safra. In addition to the fantastic group above, we have several yoetzim filling in on a one-week basis. They include Rabbi Penina Alexander (outgoing principal of the Bnai Israel Talmud Torah and former Ramah Yahadut teacher), Dita Cooper (teacher at Berman Hebrew Academy), Rachel Meytin (teacher at CESJDS and former Yoetzet), Rebecca Ravski (teacher at Milton Gottesman JDS), and Gideon Weiss (former Yoetz).
